Indications
- Mange (mites) and ticks in dogs, cattle, and pigs
Contraindications & warnings
- Not to be used in horses — may cause colic and intestinal paralysis
- Caution in cats, small dog breeds, and diabetic animals
Drug interactions
- Its effects may be aggravated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)
- Its systemic (alpha-2) effect is reversed by alpha-2 antagonists such as atipamezole
Human-safety warning
Human hazard on ingestion or excessive skin exposure: may cause sedation and a fall in blood pressure. Wear gloves when handling and seek medical care upon accidental exposure.
