What is a "withdrawal period"?

It is the time that must pass between the animal's last drug dose and its slaughter or the consumption of its milk or eggs, so its body clears the drug residues and the products become safe to eat. Example: if the meat withdrawal period is 7 days, the animal may not be slaughtered before 7 days have passed since the last dose.
