Indications
- Serious infections caused by susceptible aerobic Gram-negative bacteria
Contraindications & warnings
- Nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity (auditory and vestibular) — caution in renal impairment and dehydration
- May cause neuromuscular blockade
- Long tissue withdrawal periods — strongly considered in food animals
Drug interactions
- Nephrotoxicity is aggravated with loop diuretics, amphotericin, and some cephalosporins
- Enhances neuromuscular blockade with anesthetics and muscle relaxants
