Contraindications & warnings
- Uncontrolled systemic infection (it suppresses immunity)
- Diabetes mellitus, heart failure, and peptic ulcer
- Pregnancy — may induce abortion or premature birth
- Not to be stopped abruptly after prolonged use (risk of adrenal insufficiency)
Drug interactions
- Increased risk of peptic ulcer with NSAIDs
- Hypokalemia with diuretics
- May reduce the efficacy of insulin and vaccines
